I am an elementary English language teacher in Barcelona. I teach English as a Second Language to very young learners and I use new technologies for different purposes in my classes.

I do project working as a way to motivate and engage my pupils into collaborative work. I and my pupils are very active using web 2.0 tools and producing outcomes with these tools. But, I don’t miss any opportunity to use “old teaching tools”, such as puppets, songs, stories or games.

Maureen Ingram, USA, Primary, Early Childhood

Maureen Ingram has been involved with parent participatory schools for some 20 years. She currently works as a mentor for new early childhood teachers and teaches a weekly mixed-age preschool class.

Maureen has a keen interest in open-ended exploratory learning, problem-solving with young children, social/emotional learning, and helping both parents and teachers understand their preschoolers. She is President of the Potomac Association of Cooperative Teachers (which provides training opportunities for early childhood educators from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia).

MYI Early Childhood Reflections
I see this blog as a dwelling place for my enthusiasm about "all things early childhood." I teach 3 year olds and I love it. I also mentor new early childhood teachers.

I enjoy exploring why I do things a certain way - the "theory" behind the "practice." I'd love for this blog to be a soft place for teachers, parents, and caregivers to land, to consider a variety of educational topics, and perhaps help us understand little ones a little better.

Portable Teacher
Welcome to my teaching blog! Portable-Teacher reflects what I'm doing or thinking about doing in the classroom. I started the blog with a few teaching friends, who occasionally post to it. We envisioned it as a collaborative space where we could share and engage in conversation about our practice.

I use the blog to remember and reflect on my teaching as well as a place to share ideas or tools I've found helpful. I would like the blog to push teachers and others to question, imagine and or reflect on their own practice.

I have been teaching since 1974. I am currently at a small alternative program in White Rock, BC, where I work with students who do not thrive in mainstream high schools. I have been struggling with all aspects of how to more make education more accessible and more engaging for my students.

My subjects are math and science. My background is in learning strategies, differentiated learning, and working with at-risk students. My passion is for collaboration with like-minded colleagues who want to explore together this process of making learning more meaningful for students through the integration of Web 2.0 tools and resources.
